The Seventh Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University will Work with the American Chinese Medical Association to Build a High-level Training Base for Medical Personnel
Professor Zhu Zhenglun, Chairman of the Council of the American Chinese Medical Association, led a delegation of experts to Shenzhen for visits and exchanges. His company included Professor Gregory Dakin of Presbyterian Hospital in New York, Professor David Watt of Kentucky University, Professor Zhu Yingming of MD Anderson Cancer Center in the United States and many doctors and scholars from prominent medical institutions and universities. Professor Zhu's visit to Shenzhen aimed at promoting the exchange among medical colleagues between China and the United States and strengthening collaboration in clinical, scientific research and biomedical science and technology projects.
On October 14, the expert delegation attended the 8th Academic Meeting of the Guangdong Medical Association on gastrointestinal surgery, the 2017 American Chinese Medical Association International Medical Forum, and the Shenzhen-Guangzhou Hepatobiliary&Pancreatic Surgery Medical and Educational Forum. The forum was jointly sponsored by Guangdong Medical Association and American Chinese Medical Association, and hosted by the Seventh Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University. Top-tier experts of gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery in China and experts and scholars of American Chinese Medical Association gathered together to present a wonderful academic feast. The American Chinese Medical Association indicated that they would continue to cooperate in long-term with the Seventh Affiliated Hospital and hold high-level international medical forums even frequently.
On October 15, the delegation of experts visited the Seventh Affiliated Hospital and express appreciation for its advanced planning and grand blueprint. As the first affiliated hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in Shenzhen, the Seventh Affiliated Hospital has planned 4000 hospital beds and designated to become a medical and health center in Shenzhen. Furthermore, the hospital is committed to developing into an internationally renowned, research-based and education-focused hospital.
Through this visit, the hospital and American Chinese Medical Association had an in-depth discussion and reached an agreement on collaboratively establishing a platform for training high-level medical personnel with an international perspective. This training platform will base at Brigham and Women's Hospital, initiating with specialist cooperation to establish close cooperative relations in clinical practice, scientific research and education. At the same time, the Seventh Affiliated Hospital will play a key role in deepening medical exchanges between China and America.
On October 16, the delegation of experts visited Shenzhen Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs and Health and Family Planning Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, and a discussion was held on the flexible introduction of high-level talents, the establishment of research platforms and the transformation of scientific research projects. Luo lexuan, the Director of Health Planning Commission, pointed out that Shenzhen needs developing quality medical and health services thereby it is expected and valued to cooperate with American Chinese Medical Association for boosting development of medical and health services in Shenzhen.
