The Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University’s International Medical Center Launches Direct Payment for Commercial Insurance and Successfully Treats First Patient
On August 23, the International Medical Center (“IMC”) of the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (“SAH-SYSU”) officially commenced operations, smoothly admitting its first patient from Taiwan and processing direct commercial insurance payments.
Direct payment for commercial insurance is an essential service in premium medical insurance. SAH-SYSU’s IMC has introduced a direct payment process that allows foreign nationals, residents of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions, and various groups to receive medical services directly using their premium insurance cards, without the need to pay the full or partial medical fees on-site (depending on the individual’s insurance coverage). This one-stop solution addresses the difficulties of insurance reimbursements, significantly enhancing the patient experience.
Ms. Y from Taiwan, seeking further treatment for a fractured left foot, chose to visit SAH-SYSU’s IMC due to its reputation. She received full assistance throughout her visit. After thorough examinations and treatment by Wei Fuxin, Vice President and Director of Orthopedics Department, and MDT discussions with Xu Yi, Deputy Director of Rehabilitation Department and the nursing team, the IMC developed a detailed, professional treatment, rehabilitation, and nursing care plan for Ms. Y. Ms. Y, who visited solely with her premium medical insurance card, received assistance from the IMC in handling guarantee letters and pre-authorization contacts, swiftly completing the direct insurance payment verification. Supported by the IMC’s medical information system, she successfully completed her entire medical visit. She expressed great satisfaction with SAH-SYSU’s high-standard treatment plan, efficient medical process, convenient commercial insurance direct payment, luxurious environment, and compassionate services.
