On the afternoon of November 15, the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University held the opening ceremony and the first lecture of the “Training Course on Teaching Ability of Clinical Teachers ". Professor Liu Jun, Vice Director of Heart internal medicine department six branches of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University，who was awarded as an Excellent Teacher in South Guangdong as well as a trainer of the National Clinical Skills Competition was invited to give a lecture entitled "How Teaching Serves Clinical- Professional Quality of Teachers ". The meeting was hosted by Tang Lina, head of the Education Department of the Seventh Affiliated Hospital, and more than 100 medical staff attended this meeting.

Qin Jian, Vice President of the hospital, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He pointed out in his speech that on the basis of inheriting the fine traditions of Sun Yat-sen University School of Medicine, the Seventh Affiliated Hospital should gradually enhance its ability to undertake teaching work and have a sense of mission and responsibility during this period. He also shared his teaching experience and encouraged young teachers to learn from Professor Liu Jun about the spirit of "Traditions of Zhongshan Medicine", that means to love teaching and dedication, to improve their teaching level, to clarify the purpose of teaching, to actively undertake the task of teaching, to constantly accumulate the teaching experience, and to prepare for homogeneous education of students.

Professor Liu Jun point out the teaching concept of "clinical is the root of foundation, and teaching is the source of development", and he shared teaching experience on how to obtain teaching resources, how to verify teaching effect and how to serve clinical practice. He pointed out that to be a interesting and dedicated teacher, it is necessary to capture every teaching information from daily clinical work, integrate teaching into clinical medicine, serve clinical medicine and promote clinical medicine. In order to make teaching more close to clinical practice, Professor Liu Jun has used his free time to search for clinical cases in the hospital in the past 20 years. He always paying attention to case data with teaching value and filed them. So far, nearly 3000 cases have been collected. Due to the love and study of teaching, his s treatment ability has been greatly improved.

Tang Lina, Director of the Education Department, pointed out that inviting excellent teachers from the affiliated hospitals of Sun Yat-sen University to carry out the " Training Course on Teaching Ability of Clinical Teachers " aimed at strengthening the construction of teachers in the Seventh Affiliated Hospital, consolidating teaching concepts, innovating teaching methods, improving teaching capability, and cultivating a team of teachers with high quality and high level to welcome the first batch of medical students from School of Medicine, Shenzhen Campus in 2019. She wished that the young teachers who participate in the training will cherish the learning opportunities and become a qualified teacher and an excellent backbone of clinical teaching.

There are 14 compulsory courses and 6 elective courses in this training course. Those who participate in all courses and pass the examination will be given the certificate of this clinical teaching ability training course, and they can take the task of clinical teaching as a priority.

The Seventh Affiliated Hospital attaches great importance to teaching, and will establish a complete teaching system covering undergraduate teaching, postgraduate teaching, resident standardized training and specialist training. At present, there are 25 doctoral supervisors and 25 master supervisors in the hospital. As well as one director in charge of national-level top-quality courses, two winners of "Baoshan Iron & Steel Excellent Teachers Award" and eight teach supervisors of Sun Yat-sen University. The hospital will firmly wish to the teaching concept, undertake the teaching, probation and internship tasks of medical students, build a standardized training base for residents and specialists, and establish a center for reputable doctors and medical talents.
